  • Frank Dudek of JLGA Wins Senior Division of the SCGA Tournament of Champions

Frank Dudek (far right) won the Men’s Senior Championship at SCGA’s tournament of champions. Other winners included Jason Steiner, Chris Eassy, Catherine Shealy and Eddie Hargett.

The SCGA annual Tournament of Champions took place January 28-29 at the TPC Myrtle Beach.  All the club champions from around the state of SC were invited.  Frank represented JLGA and the Muni as the reigning Senior Club Champion.  Frank has been playing lights out at the Muni and continued his strong play the weekend of the ToC.  Frank prevailed shooting 70 and 71 for a -3  to win by 5 strokes.

Frank reported on his weekend in Murrells Inlet. “It was an interesting tournament. I started by hitting it off a rake into the left bunker from the middle of the fairway then bladed it over the green from the bunker and proceeded to chunk my chip then made a 20-foot putt for bogey. I birdied the next hole and played pretty solid from there. My nines were 35-35-36-35 I had 5 birdies both days and putted lights out. Had 25 putts on both days.

They had live scoring through the golf genius app so if you wanted you could look at the leader board but I ask the guys in our group not to tell me. On the 2nd day at the turn, I was sitting at -2 and they all struggled so I thought I was comfortably up when one guy said: “Holy Shit a guy who shot 75 in the 1st round is -5 today”.   So I started doing the math and realized I better grind hard. I birdied 2 of the first 3 holes to take back the lead and made 2 twenty footers for par on the last two holes to seal the win.”

Congrats to Frank and the other representatives from JLGA and the Muni- Chandler Mulkey who finished T10 in the Champions Division and Nabila Piper who finished 9th in the Ladies Division.
