In association with the Western Golf Association (WGA) Evans Scholarship Foundation, junior caddies are now available at Charleston Municipal Golf Course. The program lets local students earn money as a caddie and become eligible for the WGA’s Chick Evans Scholarship.
The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. To qualify, caddies must meet the requirements of having a strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character. This year, there are 1,100 Evans Scholars enrolled at 21 leading universities nationwide.
- All caddies are paid $40.00 per 18 holes by the Evans Scholars Foundation.
- Local golfers should pay a minimum gratuity of $20 to their caddie.
- Caddies can carry, push a cart or fore-caddie.
- All caddies receive credit toward a potential Evans Scholarship.
- During the school season, caddies are available only on Saturdays and Sundays.
